Class 6

YOUR TIME

The Life You Were Given — and the Day It Ends

Your Time Is Not Theory

Throughout this course, we spoke about time.

  • We spoke about accountability.

  • We exposed time killers.

  • We defined productivity.

  • We built habits.

  • We explored sacred seasons.

Now we speak about something more direct. Your time.

You were given a lifespan.

It has a beginning.
It has an end.
You do not know its length.
But you are currently spending it.

Allah says: “Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: ‘My Lord, send me back that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind.’ No. It is only a word he is saying…” (Surah Al-Mu’minoon 23:99–100)

When death comes, people do not ask for entertainment. They ask for one more chance to act. No one asks to come back for comfort. They ask to come back for righteous action. Because once time ends, regret begins.

Your Life Is Being Recorded

Time is not disappearing into nothing. It is being documented. Allah concludes Surah Az-Zalzalah with words that should stop a believer in his tracks:

  • That Day it will report its news.” (99:4)

  • That Day the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.” (99:6)

  • So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.” (99:7)

  • And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” (99:8)

The earth itself will testify.

The ground you walked on. The room you sat in. The masjid you entered — or neglected.
The hours you spent alone. Nothing is lost. Nothing disappears. Everything is displayed. This is not symbolic language. This is accountability.

Every hour is written. Every delay. Every prayer. Every scroll. Every distraction. Every moment of sincerity.

The Illusion of “Later”

One of the greatest traps is not denial. It is delay.

“I will improve later.” “I will focus when life slows down.” “I will become consistent after this phase.”

Life rarely slows down. Responsibilities increase. Energy decreases. Habits harden.

Allah says: “Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and the earth…” (Surah Al-Hadid 57:21)

Race. Not stroll. Not delay. Not postpone. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Hasten to do good deeds before you are overtaken by trials…” (Sahih Muslim)

The Grave Is Closer Than We Think

Death does not consult your calendar. It does not wait for:

  • better habits,

  • finished projects,

  • resolved distractions.

It comes when it comes. The Prophet ﷺ passed by a grave and said regarding two light rak‘ahs that the deceased could no longer pray: “…If he were able to add them to his deeds, it would be more beloved to him than everything in your world.” (Tabarani, Hasan Sahih)

Two rak‘ahs. Not a lifetime of worship. Just two. If this is the value of two rak‘ahs after death, what is the value of a disciplined life before it?

WHEN YOUR TIME IS UP!

We spoke at length about the time in this world, in this section we will look into how it effects the after life!

Are You Prepared?

People wake up every morning making short term or long term plans for their lives. But death is not included in these plans. Whereas most of these plans might not occur, death will certainly occur.

Allah says: “And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” (Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)

Your purpose is clear. Productivity is not merely achievement. It is fulfilling purpose.

Al-Hasan Al-Basri said: “How strange is a people whose departure has been announced, and whose predecessors have already departed, yet they still play.”

‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan رضي الله عنه said: “The angel of death assigned to you has passed others and will pass you. Prepare for him. If you do not prepare, no one will prepare for you.”

The Book of Deeds

At the end of the Reckoning, each person will be given his book containing a complete record of the deeds which he did in this life. The ways in which the people will be given their books will vary. The believer will be given his book in his right hand, from the front, and his reckoning will be easy, then he will return to his family in Paradise in joy.

When the believer will look at what his record contains, of Tawheed and righteous deeds, he will be happy and will rejoice, and he will raise his voice to announce this joy. “Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: 'Here! Read my Record! Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account! 'So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. In a lofty Paradise, the fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past!” (Qur'an 69: 19-24)

As for the disbeliever, munaafiq (hypocrite) and people of misguidance, they will be given their books in their left hands from behind their backs. At that point the kaafir will raise his voice with cries of woe, praying against himself. “But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, He will invoke [for his] destruction, And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning.” (Qur'an 84:10-12)

The Scene of Reckoning

Imagine the Day.

People resurrected barefoot and naked.
Standing for a period known only to Allah.
Books brought forth.
The Balance established.

You are called by name: “Where is so-and-so, son of so-and-so?”

You will know it is you. Your heart will tighten. Your limbs will tremble.

You will stand before Allah.

No distraction. No second attempt. Only your record. You will read the book's contents nervously, with a broken heart, faced with terrors from in front and behind. How many forgotten terrible actions will you remember now! How many bad deeds which you had concealed will be made known now! All the wasted hours! How much regret will fill your heart and how sorry you will feel for your negligence with time and in obeying your Lord!

The one who is given his book in his right hand will know that he is one of the people of Paradise, and will say, "Here, read my Record!" He will come forth and a white book will be brought out for him, in the middle of which are his sayi 'aat and on the outside of which are his Hasanaat. He will start by reading the record of his sayi 'aat and he will be scared; his face will turn yellow and his colour will change. When he reaches the end of his book, it will say, 'These are your sayi'aat, and you are forgiven for them.' He will be filled with great joy, then he will tum the book over and will read his Hasanaat, and his joy will only increase further. At the end of the book, he will find the words, these are your Hasanaat, which are multiplied for you. Then his face will turn white, and a crown will be brought and placed on his head. He will be dressed in two garments and every joint of his body will be adorned. He will grow to a height of sixty cubits, which was the height of Adam, and it will be said to him, 'Go to your companions and tell them the glad tidings, tell them that each one among them will have the same.'

For those whose balance is on the wrong side, When he reaches the end of his book, it will say, these are your Hasanaat, and they are rejected. Then his face will turn black, and he will be overwhelmed with grief and despair. Then he will tum the book over and read his sayi 'aat. His grief will only increase further, and his face will turn even blacker. When he reaches the end of the book, he will find the words, these are your sayi'aat, which are multiplied for you - i.e., the punishment will be multiplied for him, it does not mean that things that he did not do will be added to his record. Then he will be taken to the Fire; his eyes will tum blue and his face will tum black, and he will be clothed in garments of pitch. 'Then fasten him' it is said, (this means) his neck will be fastened in it, then he will be dragged by it. If one link of this chain were to be placed on a mountain, it would melt.

He will call out to his companions, 'Do you recognize me?' They will say, 'No, but we see the grief on your face. Who are you?' He will say, 'I am So and so the son of So and so, and each of you will have the same as I have.'

And on the other hand, the one whose balance is on the right side, he will start by reading the record of his sayi 'aat and he will be scared; his face will turn yellow and his colour will change.

Imagine yourself, if you are one of the blessed, going out before all of creation with a joyful face, having attained perfection and beauty, with your book in your right hand, seized under the arms by an angel who will call out before the people, 'This is So and so the son of So and so, he has attained happiness and will never feel sorrow again.' But if you are one of the doomed, your face will turn black and you will pass the people with your book in your left hand, or behind your back. You will utter cries of woe and an angel will seize you under the arms and call out before all the people: 'So and so is doomed to a state of misery and will never feel happy again.

All of this depends on how you have used your TIME!

Your Potential vs Your Reality

Allah gave you:

  • intellect,

  • health (for now),

  • access to knowledge,

  • technology,

  • safety,

  • opportunity.

  • time

Many of these were not available to previous generations in the way they are available to you. Allah says: “Then you will surely be asked that Day about the blessings.” (Surah At-Takathur 102:8)

Blessings are not only wealth. Time is a blessing. Health is a blessing. Mental clarity is a blessing.

Productivity in Islam is not about becoming famous or wealthy. It is about maximising entrusted capacity.

Final Reminder

Right now:

Your scrolls are being written.
Your habits are being recorded.
Your distractions are being noted.
Your discipline is being noted.

This course gave you knowledge. You now know:

  • Time is sacred.

  • We uncovered the subtle traps of Shaitaan that steal it.

  • Distraction is costly.

  • We defined productivity as balanced growth in this world and the next.

  • Sacred seasons multiply reward.

  • We built habits rooted in the Sunnah & that Habits shape destiny.

  • Accountability is real.

So now the final matter remains simple. What will you do with your time?

Knowledge without action becomes evidence against a person. This course was not about motivation. It was about structure. It was not about intensity. It was about consistency.

Time is not waiting for you to be ready. It is already moving. You are either building your Hereafter — or slowly weakening your record.

There will come a day when you would trade everything for one more hour. That hour will not be granted. But this one has been. Use it before it becomes regret.
